Wallpapers Quake 3 Arena Models
Click on the link for the relevant wallpaper and once the image has finished loading, right-click on it and get your browser to "Save/Set As Wallpaper". The Wallpaper will be located in your Windows directory named as BROWSER NAME Wallpaper where it can be renamed to something more appropriate. BTW, ignore the thin bar at the bottom of some wallpapers - usually on those that were cropped from wider images - because it will be obscured by your taskbar. If you have your taskbar set to "auto-hide", well, suffer, because you're obviously an idiot.
Note: All wallpapers are in 800*600 resolution, but are available in a higher resolution, all the way up to 1200*900 for some. I don't have the server space to post all variations, so just email me for requests. A more tasteful Amy Taylor is also available, which shows more face and less chest for the more discreet Matilda fan.
Simply click on the relevant thumbnail and download the zip file. Full installation instructions are contained within the accompanying readme file.
All these models are basically sound-customised models. I have no 3D modelling skills, so have used existing Quake 3 Arena and third party models as a base. All models have team skins included. I regard Rail Bitch, UKKK Bot and ISS Girl as my children. Check the wallpaper above for a nice family picture complete with shots of them at play!
All models have bot support, which is modelled on my own playing style: aggressive, vengeful, and brilliantly accurate. While not as bullshit accurate as that encountered within the actual Q3A game, the increased aggression still makes them formidable foes, especially in the single player levels like Hell's Gate. So while you still get a tough game - if not tougher, especially on the lower difficulty levels - at least it's fairer and more fun.
All models love accuracy-based weapons like the Rail Gun, Plasma and Shotty (my favourites). The only difference between each model is their preferred weapon setting (weapon weights). This actually does affect their prowess in particular levels.
Full details about each model are in its readme file.
1) Rail Bitch (1.4mb): An Ace Of Base model! Physically she's based on Samus from the Nintendo Metroid video games. However, all her sound effects and chat text have been sourced from Ace Of Base songs. Loves open levels and one-one-ones to exploit her rail skills. That's why she's a bitch! Weapon weight: Rail, Plasma, Shotty.
2) UKKK Bot (1.6mb): Using the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Michelangelo (or "Mike"), model, sounds are mostly my voice. However, there's a few special sound effects for added atmosphere. Excels in high-action tight levels, and is the best performed bot overall. I just love him. So it often pains me to have to kill him. But any delay sees him frag me - his very own father! - and I think, "what the heck, take this, you little punk". Weapon weight: Plasma, Rail, Shotty.
3) ISS Girl (2.1mb): The idea was to capture the atmosphere of the International Superstar Soccer videogames in a Quake model. With no football-based models about, I decided to use Mynx (Blue) - my favourite Q3A standard model - and made her lips red so as to increase her spunk factor! All sounds and most chat text are actual ISS game commentary. The various colour schemes represent the national colours of the ISS Mentors from the ISS Realm, with Holland being the default. There's also some specialised third-party skins included, with Wonder Women, representing the USA, the most interesting. Weapon weight: Shotty, Rail, Plasma. A good all-rounder.
4) Les Murray, from SBS TV Australia (0.9mb): Noted sports presenter in Australian soccer circles, Les's real skill is actually his rarely used football commentary. With a marvellous sense of drama, vocabulary and vocal intonation, he's wonderful. Based on Q3A's Tim model, I've tried to modify it into a grey, 50-something bespectacled, respected commentator, but he's not come out too well. Oh well. The main thing is that the sounds effects are right. Believe me, if you know of Les, you'll love them. Weapon weights: Shotty, Plasma, Rail. He also seems to have special liking towards the Gauntlet!
