Defense against headers, flick-over, cancel the
one-two
From Roberto Fortich
- You are in possesion of the ball, you are moving but not running, then SLIGHTLY tap 'C
left' (lob) just before the opponent slides. The result? You pass the ball above the rival
while hes left behind in the ground with no chance of doing anything!! In spanish, you
call this 'sombrero'. This is difficult at first, remember to tap the button as delicated
as possible while Jogging, (Not running). Timing is crucial! Can you beat a Goalie with
this move? I've seen it, but I cant do it!!
- Press 'A' and 'B' (the shoulder charge) at the same time when the opponent has crossed an air pass when you know that the taller forward will beat you. The result: you'll push the forward in the air and he'll miss the header!! Again, practice the timing!
-You should already know this but if you press 'L' or 'Z' after a one-two pass, you will cancel the play, and the player will either keep the ball, or pass it to some other teammate.
Remeber the best way to enjoy ISS 98 is to play against a good human opponent, set the goalies to Lv 3 and score a different goal each time. No long shot easy goals, or rebound cheaty plays!!
Special Moves - The Flick
From Pavlos Lambrianides
There are many special moves in ISS, one of which is the flick over your own head
which I'm sure you can execute so I won't bother explaining but the less obvious which I
don't reckon you guys are onto yet is the little flick on receiving a pass along the
ground. To execute this is just like executing the head-down or chest-down into the
desired direction when recieving a looping or high-through pass but when the pass is along
the ground. This is possibly the best move in the game. Also, there is no need to
double-tap the sprint button to perform side-step etc. Simply single tap whilst moving
stick or pressing c-pad direction at same time. C-pad or stick must be in nuetral position
to start with to execute this, though you can even execute this whilst sprinting. Try
sprinting forwards, then release stick to neutral position followed by pressing the sprint
and pushing the stick forward at same time. This will give a dummy step followed by quick
dash forward which will help evade tackles, lose defenders and help you beat the Dutch
Mentor. This trick can be executed in any direction, whilst standing running or sprinting
and can also be done repeatedly (i.e forward followed by sideways to get away from a
marker on the wings).
