Vicki began her painting career painting on Silk in the 1980’s and eventually was lucky enough to have lessons in oil painting with Brian Armstrong at the McClelland Guild of artists studio.

Vicki has been working in oil paint since 2001.

Vicki is most inspired by Arthur Streeton, Penleigh Boyd, Brian Armstrong and Margaret Olley

Vicki Sullivan grew up in Sorrento and now lives in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula. Vicki is passionate about the Peninsula and her family have lived here since the 1840s and many of them still live in the area.“The peninsula is famous for the unusual light and I feel very lucky to live in such a stunningly beautiful part of the world.”Vicki studied Visual Art at Frankston Technical College and then spent 18 months studying at Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education majoring in ceramics.A few years making pottery and living in the Rainforest in northern NSW in an isolated valley was where her interest in textiles began and she started Hand Painting Silk and selling her work and exhibiting in galleries around Australia and New Zealand.In 1989 winning the Townsville Pacific Festival “Wearable Art Award”.After many years working with textiles it was time to broaden her horizons and so she began four enjoyable and enlightening years studying oil painting with Brian Armstrong at the McClelland Guild of Artists.
