The ancient Greeks compiled a list of what they thought were the Seven Wonders of the World. The list does not include Stonehenge or the Great Wall of China. They did not know about England or China. In fact, they knew very little about countries beyond the area of the Mediterranean Sea. Here is their list of Wonders:
The Pharos at Alexandria
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
The Colossus of Rhodes | |
The Statue of Zeus at Olympia
The Mausoleum at Harlicarnassus.
The Great Pyramid of Cheops |
You can find out more about them in your library or on the Internet. I have compiled a short description of four of them, with a few challenges for you to try. Others might be added later.
