Features

In order to make it easy for you to use this program, the following features have been included into it:

• it is a basic word processor with the usual cut/copy/paste/undo commands,
• you can set the font type and size that you want to use,
• you can set the foreground and background colours,
• it will let keep track for you how many characters the currently opened file contains (as there is a limit!),
• it will also keep track for you how many lines the current file contains,
• it enables you by a single click of your mouse to enter into the main text the current date and/or the current time,
• it enables you by a single click or your mouse to add a little phrase as a heading into the main text. These little phrases are designed to help you express yourself. Many such little phrases have been prepared and are available with the program. If, however, you want to edit these little phrases, or delete those you don't like or even add new ones, then this is easily done,
• you can create a desktop shortcut to the program so that you can easily run it when you want or need to,
• you can make the interface "your own" by adding an inspirational text or your favourite saying to the interface, and by
• adding the photo of someone (or something) you care about (or not!), and by
• selecting a file that you want automatically opened every time it is run.

The Gold version offers all the features of the "normal" version above, together with the following additional features:

• it offers multi-user access so that several people can use it to have their own daily diary or daily journal. To make this work, each user will be required to become a registered user of >E-Diary Gold by providing the program with: a username, a password, and a file extension that >E-Diary will use to save their files with. This will ensure that each registered user will be able to see and access only their own files,
• for added security, >E-Diary Gold will encrypt the data files of all its registered users together with their password,
• it has an administrator mode whereby the username and the file extension of registered users can be changed but their passwords cannot. This is to ensure that not even the administrator can view and access the data files of the registered users. The administrator mode also makes it possible for registered users to be removed from >E-Diary Gold... just in case there is such a need!
• each registered user has the option of having a file of their choice open up automatically when they log in to >E-Diary Gold,
• the program uses a unique red/green colour combination to alert you that you have made some changes to your entries and that they hence need to be saved. This colour scheme can be changed to suit your needs/taste, or out of necessity (such as if you happen to be colour blind).

Of course, both versions of >E-Diary have the usual features of a menu and buttons (for often used commands), as well as the usual commands of file open, file close, file print, . . .

Limitation

At the moment, there is only one limitation to both versions of >E-Diary: files have a limit on the amount of characters they can have (65,535 characters including spaces and new lines). This limitation really is a minor problem as you can easily work you way around it by starting a new file each month, or each fortnight, or... depending on how much writing you do. In fact, I would suggest that you start a new file each month.

• work under Windows 98, ME, XP (admin mode only),
• require about 400 KB of hard disk space (+ what other space is needed for your data files),
• require your monitor set to 800x600 as a minimum,
