  "Although this has already been explained in previous e-mails, it appears that you may not have understood that in an item such as a recording of this nature there can be more than one copyright work. As well as the copyright in the actual broadcast and in the sound recording, copyright subsists in the underlying work(s), such as the script for each episode. The copyright in the script is infringed by reproducing it in any material form. This means that it is infringed not just being reproduced in written form, but by the reproduction of a sound recording made of the performance of that script.
  Under the UK Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988, copyright in the script does not expire until 70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the author, or the last of joint authors, dies. Therefore, although the copyright in the sound recordings of some episodes of the Goon Show may now have expired, nevertheless the copyright in the underlying works still continues. Such copyright will usually be owned by the authors, or their estates after their death, unless they have assigned it elsewhere."

• 25/03/2004 - Mail delivery failure email received (23/03/2004) from 'postmaster@bbc.co.uk', reason - "unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server". Address the same as all other times, no reason from this end for mail to be undeliverable. Email resent.

• 29/02/2004 - No reply yet from BPT. Email sent to BPT requesting timeframe for their reply.

• 30/01/2004 - Reply received, further email sent to BPT requesting clarification of their reply.

• 23/01/2004 - Brandy Protection Team email received - "I expect to formally reply to you next week".
• 22/01/2004 - Still no reply from the Brandy Protection Team. New email sent to BPT regarding UK copyright expiring after 50 years. If nothing received from BPT will restart MP3 page using only expired shows (shows prior to and including Series 4, Episode 13).
• 18/01/2004 - Still no reply from the Brandy Protection Team.
• 04/01/2004 - Nothing to report at the moment, I expect the Brandy Protection Team are still off celebrating.
• 19/12/2003 - Answers to some questions received (they're prompt, I'll give them that).
  - Wav files can only be used by agreement. US style "doctrine of fair use" does not apply.
  - The Brand Protection Team's action was due to a complaint they received. "Other sites that offer infringing Goon material will be contacted in due course".
• 18/12/2003 - Brand Protection Team advise their reply may be delayed slightly due to Christmas and Custard.
• 17/12/2003 - Email sent to BBC Brand Protection Team asking for further clarification of items in their reply as well as some further new matters.
• 10/12/2003 - Reply received.
• 10/12/2003 - No reply yet from BBC Brand Protection Team but I have received plenty of emails from all round the world. Thanks for that.
• 03/12/2003 - Email sent to BBC Brand Protection Team advising removal of links and requesting clarification of certain copyright matters.
  At this stage I wouldn't hold your breath on this page returning in its current form.
