Australian Communications & Media Authority

The ACMA is the federal government agency responsible for administering the Amateur Service in Australia.  It sets amateur operating conditions, issues licences and allocates callsigns.

Contact the ACMA once you've passed the amateur exam to obtain a licence and receive a callsign. ACMA offices exist in all capital cities, but license applications are now handled via mail from Sydney. Details are provided in your local White Pages, the ACMA webpage or in the WIA Callbook.

The ACMA maintains a comprehensive website for spectrum users and others involved in telecommunications. Those sitting their Regulations paper will everything they need to know on the amateur section of the site.
