WELCOME TO A-L A. |
|
In 1980, having imported an electric flight power set from Astro Flight in the U.S.A., I proceeded to experience the potential of this quiet and convenient form of airborne power. During the next ten years, it was possible to promote this new branch of modelling, and to establish a local mail order and distribution network for the Astro Flight range of electric flight products. In 1990, through my work in automotive instruments engineering, information was obtained relating to the development of Neodymium rare earth magnets and experiments were carried out to combine this technology with the low cost ferrite “buggy” motors which were being increasingly used for electric flight applications. Arrangements were made with Leisure Electronics to purchase ferrite motors, and the full range of facilities was prepared to allow the extensive modifications necessary to introduce the range of ND05 neodymium motors. This range of products were the first locally-made electric flight motors in this country, and were well received to complement the larger imported Astro Flight motors and kits. In 1994, an upgrade of the ND05 motors was introduced as the ND10 range of motors, which with later technology magnets and thicker casings extended the performance capabilities towards 400 watts input power at 70-75% efficiency under load and remarkably low commutator and brush wear. These motors are now renowned for their light weight, power, and durability. In 1995, revised export distribution and direct Internet marketing ended the direct association with Astro Flight. However, this prior association remains reflected in the logo and trading name. In 1996, the first locally manufactured electric flight construction kit (the Defender 1.8) was introduced. The range now includes five kits covering a wide range of electric flight activity. In 2000, the range of ND480 neodymium motors was introduced to provide a higher power motor in this size range for small ducted fans and sports models. In 2001, we introduced the Sport 35 Twin motor. With the introduction of our new ND 20 BRUSHLESS MOTORS, the latest motor technology is now available in a locally made product. The new ND 30 brushless motors introduced in 2005 will provide up to 700 Watts of power for “40” size models. How about a locally made A.R.F.? Released information on the ELECTROLITE is now included with the New Projects. The DEFENDER 1.6 is also now available in initial production quantities. The new ND 21 motors (updated from the ND20) with unique Dual mounting are now released and will progressively replace the ND20 models.
You will now find a page devoted to clearance items for sale at special prices. Look here for some bargains.
You will now note that regretfully, A-LA. Brushless motors are discontinued and revert to service and repair status. The imported Turnigy brushless motors and gearmotors are added. Please check out our remaining and new products and use them where they meet your needs. You will not be disappointed.
Best regards, Malcolm Buckmaster
