LINKS

The Hong Kong Film Database is one of the most comprehensive and up to date source of information on Hong Kong films on the Internet. It is the site I refer to most when I want to obtain information on particular Hong Kong films. Every entry in the database contains the Chinese title of the film and its literal translation, the English title, the year of making, the list of credits including casts members, and other details. In many cases, it also provides succinct synopsis and reviews. The easy-to-navigate site (all names and titles are linked) also offers actors and directors' filmographies, the list of all nominees and winners at the Hong Kong Film Awards since its inception, and many other interesting features, including an extensive list of links.

Another excellent site is Movie World Hong Kong.
HK entertainment getaway!! is the most exhaustive list of links to Hong Kong films, actors and actresses I have been able to find on the net. It also includes links to Hong Kong popstars.
The Red Flower Society also offers a very good selection of links to Hong Kong Cinema related sites.
Alt.asian-movies is a newsgroup that provides a open forum for discussions about Hong Kong cinema. It is always interesting although as it is to be expected, the emphasis is on the action/karate genre and many of the messages posted on the newsgroup are of the "Is Jackie Chan better than Bruce Lee?" variety.
While surfing the Net looking for Hong Kong related sites, you will eventually come across some written in Chinese. Even though you might not be lucky enough to read Chinese (I'm not), it is always nice to be able to see these sites as they were intended, i.e. with Chinese characters. In order to do so, I recommend the NJStar CJK Multilingual Support System, an easy-to-use shareware application; simply launch the program and select Chinese ( Japanese and Korean are also supported) and it will work in the background allowing you to view all Chinese characters.
Please note:
All external links referring to films or people in Honk Kong Eclectic point to the relevant sections of the Hong Kong Movie Database.
