| With a Guide This is the way I usually tour , with a hired car and driver. You can get a car , van or minibus with a driver for a little more than you pay JUST to hire the thing !! Make sure the driver has a Tourist Licence and that the vehicle is insured. ( Yellow number plates also denotes a Tourist vehicle ) We used Wayan Merta on our last trip and I can highly recommend him. |

If you want to get out for the whole day this is the best way to do it...Take in a day trip to Kintomani . You can organise a driver who will stop along the way allowing you to take in the many flavours and cultures of Bali. Stops should include a Batic Factory , Celuk for Silver and Gold jewelry and Ubud for wood carving and the Monkey Forest ( Although a full day can be spent at Ubud alone.)
Once at the peak you will have to pay an entrance fee of Rp 1,000 per Adult but well worth it. There are two restaurants at the peak. One is relatively inexpensive ( 25,000Rp per person) for a smorgasboard and the other , well it looked very expensive so I didnt try it... It is generally the custom that you purchase lunch for the driver and water him as well , ready for the trip home.
