He can be hard to identify as he speaks in a mock American accent and is not seen particularly clearly in two of his three scenes.
His first scene (where we discover he is named 'Jack Thayer' - there was a survivor of the Titanic named John B. Thayer Jr and I assume this is the same man) appears quite early in the film when he asks the way to the swimming pool of a man who is peeking in on a group of ladies being massaged and having their hair brushed. He is invited to join in. There is quite an amusing scene where a maid catches them and advises them both to take a cold shower.
His second scene occurs just as the ship is about to sink, where he and the other man stand on the side of the Titanic deciding whether to jump for their lives or slide down a rope. He chooses to jump which turns out to be the right choice. In this scene, he has lost most of his American accent and his voice is very familiar.
He finally appears in the very last scene of the movie as a survivor on the RMS Carpathia where he takes a passenger to task for what he perceives as a lack of sympathy for the newly widowed women he is sitting with. This scene allows us to see him more clearly than in the previous two.
