3. Real time analog connection
The RV229 can output speed and/or direction in 0 - 2.5 V analog
form.
On power up the RV229 checks whether capacitors are connected from
Speed and Direction to V-.
A 100 uF capacitor between the Speed and/or Direction and V-
configures that/those outputs as analog.
Connect the transducer to the RV229.
Use a DE9/DB9 plug to connect to the RV229, and on this:
Use shielded cable to connect the Speed
and Direction pins to
the DCS, PLC or datalogger I/O module. Connect the shield from V- to
the - terminal on the I/O module. Connect the core from Speed or
Direction to the corresponding + terminal on the I/O module.
Connect the + leads of the capacitor(s) to Speed and/or Direction and
the - leads of the capacitor(s) to V-, or if
more convenient connect the capacitors
between the shield and the core at the I/O module end of
the cable.
Leave the Serial In and Serial Out pins floating, ie. connect nothing
to them.
Connect a battery or power supply capable of delivering in the range
3.7 V DC to 30.0 V DC
@ 4 mA to V- and V+.
Connect this plug to the RV229.
The RV229's LED should flash once per
rotor revolution.
