                       Gertrude Sarah (Bub) Burke was christened on 12 May 1882 at Kiltenanlea Parish (see Doonass & Truagh), Clonlara Yardfield, Co Clare, Ireland.1 She was the daughter of Edmund Burke and Catherine (Kate) Coffey. Gertrude Sarah (Bub) Burke married Thomas Bennett in 1915 at Victoria, Australia.2 Gertrude Sarah (Bub) Burke died in 1939, at Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia, Sarah diied of Cancer in the Austin Hospital.3
                       She emigrated in 1898 travelling on the ship unknown (according to Aunty Irene Sarah came to Australia at age 16 She travelled alone). In 1915 Gertrude Sarah (Bub) Burke was a waitress at the Cathedral Hotel.

                  Research Notes:
                  Sarah Burke, the baby of the family, was baptized on 12th May 1882 at Clonlara. She came out to Australia in the early nineteenth hundred and worked as a waitress at the Cathedral hotel. In 1915 she married Thomas Bennett; they had no children but when her sister Catherine became too ill to manage the children they adopted Delia Catherine (Phyllis). Sarah who was known as Aunt Babe was a bonny (20 stone) comic; her laughter was infectious and the family loved her. She died of lung cancer.
