At age 17 (1892) Bill left Duncaha, County Limerick and emigrated to New Zealand. He possibly stayed with his uncle, Thomas Nestor, who was living at Palmerston NZ. He arrived in Melbourne 1895. |

The ship called for provisions at Columbo, King George Sound (Albany WA) arrived 10 May 1894, Adelaide SA 14 May 1894, Melbourne, Victoria 16 May, 1894 and Sydney, NSW.4,4 Between 1895 and 1904 Mary (Mollie) Sheehy was a doestic. Molly worked with Aunt Gaynor (Bridget). Mary (Mollie) Sheehy was living at at "Nestor", 14 Park Street, North Fitzroy. Research Notes: Jim and Mollie had no children but there were many cousins living in Carlton and consequently many family gatherings were held at Mollie and Jim's home. They put up many of the 'new chums' recently arrived from Ireland. Among these were Mollie's brother William, sister Anne, two nephews, Jimmy and Pat O'Connor. There she met James Cummane at a party, held by the Irish community in the fishing village of Sandridge (Port Melbourne). They married in 1895. James had emigrated from Shanagolden in 1893. Delia Cummane's birthday, 31 Dec 1864, appear to be questionable. Perhaps it should be 1869 or 1870. The photograph [see Marie's book] of Patrick and Mary O'Keefe was sent by Bill Blackley and is thought to be taken circa 1860.
