PEACE
There is some small confusion of terms, for there is
no mind as such. The mind is a web of desires. Peace of mind is no desires, and
in that state there is no mind. Mind is destroyed, so to speak. Peace of mind really means purity, complete
purity of consciousness.
Conversation
with Bhagavan , p.44
Detachment
gives peace even amidst troubles. This world is like a shining drop of water that
collects on a lotus leaf. It quivers and shakes without being steady. Heaps of
attachments fill the life of man.
Troubles and sorrow constitute the screen on which the world shows itself.
Vision of Sai,
p.250
Man’s excellence lies in radiating Divine
illumination. Man’s speciality lies in the acquisition of peace, but when can
man acquire this peace? People shout slogans saying “ I want peace, I want
peace”. How can you secure peace while keeping atom bombs in your hands? You
never acquire peace even you if you land on the moon. If you keep the bombs
evil conduct and evil feelings ever in your hands, peace remains a far cry. Peace is obtained only when evil feelings
are destroyed.

If there is
righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character.
If there is a
beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home.
If there is
harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation.
If there is
order in the nation, there will be
peace in the world.
Sathya Sai
Speaks 7, p.190
THOUGHTS
Man should
make sincere efforts to see that his heart is free from evil thoughts and
feelings. The heart of man is an abode of sanctity and snakes of evil
thoughts should not be allowed to
slither in it. Can a man resting in peace when venomous snakes slither in his
room? These evil thoughts are more venomous than the deadly snakes.
It is only by
fostering noble and sublime thoughts that the prosperity of the nation and the
world can be fostered. The world can be divinised if the thoughts are
divinised. The evil thoughts infect decide the very course of a nation and
brings disaster in course of time.

DISEASE AND
PEACE
The reason for
the increased disease in the world is no peace of mind. Today’s students do not
know peace of mind. If we examine the reason for this state of mind it is bad
habits and food. Vision of Sai,II p.55
LOVE AND PEACE
Where there is
Love, there is no hatred; where there is no hatred there is peace. We
should propagate peace all over the world and it can be done only through love.

1. What is
peace?
It is the
stage in which the senses are mastered and held in balance.
Sanathana Sarathi, Jan 1985, p.11
2. Does God
grant peace?
If desires are cut off one by one, then there is
peace. When the desires goes one by one then there is die-mind. Then there is
peace of mind. Swami cannot give peace
of mind; you must work for it yourself.
Conversation
with Bhagavan , p.25
3. How do we
cultivate peace?
Only thoughts
of God and intense love for him bring peace. As worldly thoughts diminish, thoughts of
God increases. Normally, the mind desires these worldly things all the time. As
the desires are cut one by one, the peace becomes stronger.. You weave the
threads and there is the cloth. If the threads are removed, there is no longer
cloth. When there are Godly thoughts, there is peace of mind. Swami cannot give peace of mind; one has
to work for it. We do meditation, spiritual practices in this temporary
body. Though this body is temporary, you have to use temporary things to
realise the Truth.
Conversation
with Bhagavan , p. 24
But you cannot easily detach yourself from activity;
the mind clings to some thing or other. Make it cling to God, let it do all
things for God and leave the success or the failure of thing done to God,
the loss and profit, the elation and dejection. Then you have the secret of SHANTHI(peace) and contentment.
Sathya Sai
Speaks4, p.318
4. What are
the obstacles to inner peace?
Life is full of tension as there is no righteousness. What is the reason?
The reason for this is the heart is full of negative thoughts. Tension appears
as the reaction, resound and reflection of these negative thoughts. Therefore
you have to entertain positive thoughts and give up negative thoughts.
Divine
Discourse on 22.11.1995
5. How can we
contribute to the peace of the world? How can you ensure peace in the world?
Man can contribute to the peace of the world by
expanding his relationship gradually
from individual to the level of the family. From the family he should
expand his relationship to the community. From the community he should expand
his relationship to the nation, and from the nation to the whole world.
The peace of
the individual as well as the world depends on the mind of man. Hence the
importance of disciplining the mind.
When
man realises that the ATMA in everybody is one
and the same, there will be no room for differences between man and man.

Answers on Summer Showers, 1990 ,p.54
6. How can we
prevent nuclear holocaust?
By removing
all causes, sources, barriers and provocation of class, caste, creed,
colour and race, and replacing the existing hate and violence with love and
non-violence. I expect to provide humanity with an evangel of peaceful
co-operation to replace the present escalation death by co-distruction.
7. Is it
possible to get world peace with noble thoughts and prayers ?
The world can be divinised if the thoughts are
divinised. Even creation can be changed by thoughts.
If all
Humanity pray at one time that unrest, injustice, disorder and falsehood
might be transformed, into peace, truth, love and mutual service, things
will certainly become better.
