VICTORIAN CARNIVOROUS PLANT SOCIETY Inc.
The Victorian Carnivorous Plant Society Inc. (VCPS) is a society run by a group of dedicated carnivorous plant enthusiasts. It was formed in January 1984 and has published a journal ever since.
The journal has four issues per year and contains articles written by VCPS members (mostly), or are reprinted from the journals of other similar societies.
Most meetings are held at the Pilgrim Uniting Church on the corner of Bayview Road and Montague Street, Yarraville - Melway map reference 41 K7. These meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 8 PM. However some meetings may be at the home of members during a weekend. Details of meeting dates are listed in the society Journal.
Late November or early December each year the society holds it's Annual Carnivorous Plant Show. For the last few years it has been held at a local nursery which specializes in exotic and carnivorous plants. Currently the show is held at Collectors Corner (part of Paradisia Nurseries) and previously was held at Dingley Home and Garden (now called Triffid Park). The support of these two nurseries has helped the show grow to become the largest carnivorous plant show in Australia and is a mecca for any serious enthusiast. As well as seeing the plants, the show is a great place to meet other carnivorous plant growers.
